Examining Boucheron's New Eco-Design Jewellery Case
The Boucheron jewellery case is now made of just two recyclable materials, aluminum and wool felt.
Three years ago, Boucheron's CEO Hélène Poulit-Duquesne tasked the Maison's teams to redesign the brand's jewellery case — the old case was not considered to be eco-friendly, and was ultimately non-recyclable and made of 11 materials. With the end-goal of minimising the effects on the environment, the house's teams consulted experts and engineers, and the results have now been presented. Twelve formats of the jewellery case have been reduced to seven, and the 11 original raw materials have all been cut. Two recyclable and natural materials have been introduced: aluminum and wool felt. Referencing 1980s beauty kits, each jewellery case sports repeated and sculpted emerald shapes, a nod to the Maison’s iconic motif symbolising Place Vendôme as seen from above. So pretty that one is sure to keep the jewellery case as a display piece or to store valuables. The case is accompanied by a deep green pouch, which can be reused and is crafted in 65 per cent recycled materials.
