Embark On A Mesmerising Trip Around The World With Dior's Fall 2020 Capsule
You may not be able to jet off abroad on holiday at the moment, but you can still explore the endless possibilities the world has to offer with Dior. Paying tribute to its founding father’s infinite curiosity and love of travel, the Maison introduces the Dior Around The World capsule for Fall 2020, created in tandem with Italian artist Pietro Ruffo.
A longtime friend and frequent collaborator of artistic director Maria Grazia Chiuri, Ruffo is the mind behind the ethereal costumes of last year’s lavish Tiepolo Ball in Venice, as well as the scenography of Dior’s Fall/Winter 2017 Haute Couture show. Now, the multi-faceted artist lends his talents to reinterpreting Monsieur Dior’s lucky star, which, according to fashion legend, set the couturier (and his eponymous house) on the road to fame back in 1946.
Reimagined as an antique-style map of the world, the five-pointed star takes centre stage in a painterly landscape where camouflage motifs harmonise with toile de jouy-esque illustrations of nature and wildlife, evoking the connections between earth and sky, continents and constellations, flora and fauna. The mesmerising print is splashed over a selection of apparel and accessories, including the Book Tote, Saddle bag, Diorcamp messenger bag, and D-Connect sneakers, along with a striped marinière top, oversized hooded anorak, graphic t-shirt, midi-length shorts, and silk carré.
