Maddie Ziegler Wants to Pave the Way for Gen Z
If anyone proves that dreams are worth believing in, it’s Maddie Ziegler. At just 15, Ziegler is already making her mark in the fields of dance, acting and modelling. The American teenager first rose to fame on popular reality series Dance Moms, where she was spotted by singer-songwriter Sia, who went on to make Ziegler the star of six of her music videos. She’s since starred in films and made the Time magazine list of “30 most influential teens” for the last 3 years.
Now, Ziegler can add yet another notch to her already impressive belt as she appears in Tiffany & Co.’s “Believe in Dreams” campaign for the new Paper Flowers jewellery collection alongside the face of the collection, American actress Elle Fanning.
Just launched in Singapore on 1 September, Paper Flowers is chief artistic officer Reed Krakoff’s first jewellery collection for the brand. It's based on the idea of petals cut from paper and pinned together; combining the organic and feminine in a modern, playful way. In the video, Ziegler does what she does best and dances around New York City, embodying the fun, youthful spirit of the campaign and collection.
Tell us how you came to work with Tiffany, and what was the best part about being in the Believe in Dreams campaign?
Working with Tiffany has always been a dream of mine and when they told me they wanted me in their new campaign I was speechless! The best part about being in the campaign was definitely dancing in this blue fantasy with the most beautiful jewellery ever.
What are your dreams and what keeps you believing in them?
I have millions of dreams and if I put my mind to it, I feel like I can achieve them. I just have to believe in myself and believe that I can conquer anything.
What was the first Tiffany piece of jewellery you ever owned, and what’s your favourite Tiffany piece now?
My first Tiffany piece I ever owned was a Tiffany charm bracelet. And my favourite piece now is the Paper Flowers necklace. Everything is so beautiful it’s hard to have just one favourite!
You must have a very active lifestyle. How would you describe your style, and what kind of jewellery do you wear on a daily basis?
My style is very laid-back and comfortable and when I am dancing or just hanging out, I like to have very small jewellery that won’t get in the way. Jewellery I like to wear on a daily basis would be rings, little earrings and a small necklace.
You’re a dancer, actress, YouTuber, author and you even have your own clothing line. Is there anything you haven’t done yet that you want to try?
Even though I’ve done so many things in the past, I want to continue creating new projects. My goal is to have a make-up line and I feel like I will achieve that one day.
What has been the most memorable moment in your career so far?
There are so many but if I have to choose two, it would be dancing at the Grammys with Sia and Kristen Wiig, and being in a Tiffany campaign! It’s still unreal.
If you could take a break for a day, what would you like to do most?
I would lock myself in my room and watch YouTube and Netflix all day!
What’s next for Maddie Ziegler?
I don’t know what’s next for me, but I just hope to continue inspiring young girls and boys and help to pave the way for Gen Z.
