My Dior Celebrates Dior's Cannage
Codes dear to Monsieur Dior will never tire Victoire de Castellane, Artistic Director of Dior Joaillerie. This is the case of the Cannage, which adorns the latest My Dior collection
Embroidered on a cashmere sweater, decorating the Lady Dior bag, sometimes quilted on a skirt, or engraved on a pair of sunglasses. The Cannage motif, which once adorned the Napoleon III chairs in the Haute Couture salons at 30 avenue Montaigne (where the first Christian Dior fashion show took place in 1947) has adorned the house's creations for a long time. It also revives the childhood memories of Victoire de Castellane, who often visited the boutique with her mother. She therefore dedicates this new jewellery collection to the motif. And this would be the most passionate homage to the iconic Cannage since the death of Monsieur Dior. Its delicate graphic design is now used on rings, earrings and bracelets, including an impressive cuff, through a play of woven gold threads, evoking intertwined strands of straw. Like ribbons, the gold blades express the pattern, offering infinite combinations: yellow gold, pink gold and white gold are presented in monochrome or two-tone versions, sometimes paved with diamonds, while the meeting of gold and lacquer enhances some of the models. A complex construction that proves the precision of the Maison's artisans, and recalls the couturier-founder's taste for architecture.
