Bulgari Celebrates the 10th Anniversary of its Thinnest Mechanical Watch in Rome
We look at some of the highlights of the historic event that celebrated Buglari's record breaking Octo Finissimo Ultra watch.
Set in Rome's Piazza Della Rotonda, the majesty of the Pantheon was a truly fitting backdrop for Bulgari's historic event, with the 8 pillars of the ancient temple symbolising the masion's 8th world record for the Octo Finissimo Ultra, the world's thinnest mechanical watch.
The temple of the gods of Ancient Rome was also the scene of a unique art installation as the start and end of the show saw thousands of data from the history of Italian architecture and art that had been reworked through artificial intelligence algorithms — all projected on the Pantheon in a spectacularly mesmerising amalgamation of art, science and technology.
The aptly themed display celebrated the coming together of cultural heritage and innovation, beautifully reflecting the nature of the event that celebrated 10 years of infusing Swiss watchmaking mastery with Italian elegance.
On stage, the percussion ensemble of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia - Alta Formazione gave a breathtaking performance, while the artwork at the time of the show used data extracted from the brainwaves of the conductor monitored through an EEG headset device. This resulted in a stunning showcase of never-before-seen work that broke the boundaries between man and machine, melding the flow of human consciousness with the flow of data collected and reprocessed via artificial intelligence algorithms.
At an astounding 1.80 millimeters, the extraordinary thinness of the revolutionary Octo Finissomi Ultra combines the quintessence of Italian design with never-before-seen concepts that defy the laws of physics through mechanics. The first 10 owners of the Octo Finisssimo Ultra will receive exclusive NFT artwork, thanks to a QR code engraved on the ratchet wheel of the watch, guaranteeing each piece’s authenticity and uniqueness through blockchain technology, thus, forming a global eco-system that extends into a non-physical world.
