Hermès' Fall/Winter 2021 Show: The First To Take Place Live Over 3 Cities
This year, Hermes' Fall/Winter 2021 show proved to be an entirely digital affair, broadcast live on its website and without an in-person audience. Taking place over three cities – New York, Paris and Shanghai – the collection was presented as a three-part spectacle.
In the Big Apple, dancers kicked off Hermès' presentation. The Prologue took place in the Armory Show, under the supervision of Madeleine Hollander. After the subsequent runway show in Paris, dancers in Shanghai took over - led by choreographer Gu Jiani - who literally and figuratively added an extra dimension to the collection.
According to creative director Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski, it was important to recreate the adrenaline of a physical fashion show. Her message to the world is to start living anew amidst a time of chaos. To reflect this sensibility, the collection was all about resilience, perfectly suited for times like these as well as more uncomplicated times in the future.
