If there is any fashion house that knows how to make a great investment piece, it’s got to be Christian Dior. From the Book Tote in 2018 to the Saddle Bag that has been embraced by buzzy icons such as Rihanna and Karlie Kloss, the French fashion house knows how to make memorable silhouettes that add a worthy punch to any look.
This time, the maison has come with an ultra practical, yet luxe refined crossbody - the Caro bag, which is reminiscent of the femininity of the Lady Dior and the bold, structured lines of the 30 Montaigne, both iconic handbags of the house.
Unveiled just earlier on January 7, the Caro bag is easily recognisable by its distinctive signature look, which is an expression of the well-known Dior codes. The Cannage stitching and eye-catching gold-tone 'CD' closure create an elegant, compact bag to accompany you from day to night.
Behind this luxury item lies hours of refined craftsmanship straight from Dior's workshops in Italy, which combine the brand's aesthetics with exceptional materials. Check out the entire process behind the making the Caro bag here:
The process starts after the pieces have been carefully cut from calf leather. After that, essential quilting alone takes 18,000 stitches to produce the subtle, geometric weave of the handbag surface. Behind Dior's well-known Cannage stitching are countless hours of manual work.
A delicate gold "Christian Dior" seal is then applied before the bag, which is mounted inside out, is finally turned to the right. Then the metal accessories are adorned with the precious "CD" signature, from the chain links to the clasp.
Perfect for any occasion, it's multi-strap functionality also offers the convenience of carrying it several ways, while being able to fit all your essentials in. Available in two sizes, and in shades such as black, gray, beige and ivory, plus intense red, soft sky blue, mint green and compass rose for the current season.
