This new chapter extends the emotional narrative she first introduced in her debut, while pushing her sound and storytelling further. At the centre of it all is the title track, &ldquo;What&rsquo;s a girl to do&rdquo;, a song that explores the subtle, often complicated psychology of love. From wanting to linger in someone&rsquo;s thoughts to creating small excuses just to stay close, the track captures those familiar yet hard-to-explain feelings.
Driven by a bold, danceable energy, the song balances intensity with playfulness. Over a striking beat, DAYOUNG delivers a performance full of charisma and freedom, marking one of her most confident turns yet.
The second track, &ldquo;Priceless (kaching kaching)&rdquo;, offers a different perspective. Opening with a soft acoustic guitar before building into minimal trap rhythms, the song blends retro influences with a fresh, bouncy sound. The contrast adds depth to the single, highlighting her versatility while reinforcing a message of self-worth and confidence.
We caught up with the WJSN member and soloist ahead of her comeback to talk about her journey, the success of &ldquo;Body&rdquo;, and what this new release means to her.

Hi DAYOUNG! How has the first quarter of 2026 been treating you?
I&rsquo;ve been having very busy days lately preparing for my second digital single album &ldquo;What&rsquo;s a girl to do&rdquo;. Since last October, I&rsquo;ve been preparing through practice and recording, and now I&rsquo;m promoting every day and meeting fans through broadcasts, which has been really fun and meaningful.
Congratulations on the release of your second digital single album, &ldquo;What&rsquo;s a girl to do&rdquo;! Tell us more about the track and what inspired it?
&ldquo;What&rsquo;s a girl to do&rdquo; is about how you start to act a little differently when you fall for someone. It expresses those complicated emotions and situations through witty lyrics and a catchy melody. I wanted to tell people to have courage and confidence when it comes to love.
What kind of vibe did you want to achieve for the visuals to accompany "What&rsquo;s a girl to do" and how did you eventually land on that?
If you watch the music video, it feels like a night house party. I wanted to capture natural moments with friends and create a mood where the song, performance, and story all connect seamlessly.

This comes hot off the heels of "gonna love me, right?&rsquo; which achieved great success. What was your reaction to the positive reception of songs like &ldquo;Body&rdquo; off the album?
When I first heard &ldquo;Body,&rdquo; I could immediately picture everything in my head. I remember thinking, &ldquo;This is my song,&rdquo; and from the next day, everything just started coming together naturally and quickly.
What was your most memorable performance of your hit track "Body" and why?
I think my performance at the KGMA awards in Korea was the most memorable. It was my first time performing in front of such a large audience, and I also received the Best Female Solo Artist award that day. It means a lot to me, and it made performing feel even more special.
Could you tell us about the second song off the digital single, &lsquo;Priceless (kaching kaching)&rsquo;?
This is a very confident song about how you can&rsquo;t put a price on who I am. I hope listeners can feel more confident about themselves when they hear it. I also felt that it matched well with the title track in terms of melody and vibe.

Going from idol to solo artist, what has been the biggest challenge you&rsquo;ve experienced so far and how did you try to overcome that?
At first, it was honestly a little scary doing everything on my own. I wondered if I could really handle the stage by myself and go through all the processes alone. But once I started, I realised I could do it. The process was actually really fun, and I was able to overcome it by building on everything I learned from my group activities.
On the flip side, what has been the best part about being a solo artist?
The best part is being able to share my voice fully for the entire song. That alone makes it really fun and meaningful for me.
While prepping for your comeback, what have been the things that keep you calm and bring you joy during hectic periods?
Reading comments from fans and people who support me really keeps me going. Lately, I&rsquo;ve been seeing people make memes out of my videos and share different reactions, and it&rsquo;s honestly so fun and encouraging.
What does DAYOUNG have in store for fans in the near future?
I want to continue being an artist who shares great music. I also hope to meet fans around the world through different stages and create meaningful memories together. I want to connect and share our thoughts and emotions through music and performance.
