Get acquainted with your new must-haves: the Dior Forever Skin &amp; Velvet Veil, On Set Powder and Cushion

Since its debut, <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/beauty/dior-beauty-unveils-cuir-saddle-modern-leather-fragrance-by-francis-kurkdjian-interview-perfumes" title="Dior Cuir Saddle Explores a New Intimate Vision of Leather Fragrance" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dior</a> Forever has become one of <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/beauty/jisoo-willow-smith-and-anya-taylor-joy-front-dior-addict-glass-lipstick-campaign" title="JISOO, Willow Smith and Anya Taylor-Joy Front Dior Addict Glass Lipstick Campaign" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dior Beauty</a>'s most iconic complexion franchises, celebrated for marrying long-wearing performance with skincare-infused formulas. This round, the Maison expands the line-up once again with three new additions designed to further elevate your makeup routine: the Dior Forever Skin Veil and Velvet Veil primers, the Dior Forever On Set Powder, and the reinvented Dior Forever Cushion.
To mark the launch, L'OFFICIEL&nbsp;travelled to Bangkok for a conversation with Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/beauty/how-to-recreate-blackpink-jisoo-dior-addict-makeup-celebrity-beauty-look-products" title="How to Recreate JISOO’s Dior Addict Sweet Shop Beauty Look in Tokyo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dior Makeup</a>. From the return of soft-focus, blurred skin to the science behind layering complexion products for long-lasting wear, Philips shares the thinking behind Dior Forever's latest evolution.

Dior Forever has become one of the Maison's biggest beauty successes. What inspired the next evolution of the range?
Dior Forever has exceeded all of our expectations. It's been incredibly rewarding to see how well the foundation has been received around the world. The Glow formula delivers beautiful radiance while remaining easy to apply, buildable and infused with skincare ingredients. The Matte version, meanwhile, is something of a hidden gem for me.
Many people naturally gravitate towards glow, but I have a real appreciation for the Matte formula because it isn't flat or chalky. It's what I would describe as a luminous matte. Even in extreme humidity, it remains exceptionally long-wearing and offers impressive transfer resistance, making it ideal for days when you need your makeup to last without constant touch-ups. With the success of these foundations, we wanted to take the experience one step further by introducing primers that work in perfect harmony with each finish.
Tell us about the new Dior Forever Skin Veil and Velvet Veil. What role do they play in the Dior Forever routine?
Although both are primers, they are completely different formulas designed specifically to complement their respective foundations.
The Forever Skin Veil is almost four products in one. It's a serum, a moisturiser, an SPF and a primer combined. It has a lightweight, serum-like texture that glides onto the skin almost like skincare, leaving behind a soft, luminous finish before foundation application. The Forever Velvet Veil, on the other hand, has a completely different architecture. Rather than adding radiance, it focuses on blurring the complexion, minimising the appearance of pores and creating a beautifully refined finish. It feels almost like an invisible filter on the skin.
The Glow version contains SPF50, while the Velvet Veil offers SPF15. That's not simply a marketing decision — it comes down to formulation. Some formulas can accommodate higher SPF levels without compromising performance, while others cannot. We never want to make technical compromises simply to claim a higher SPF.

Why introduce primers now, when the Forever foundations already perform so well?
Initially, I asked exactly the same question. Why would we need another step is the foundation already does everything? But through travelling and speaking to consumers around the world, I realised that beauty rituals vary enormously. In France, for example, many women simply apply moisturiser and perhaps foundation before leaving the house. In other parts of the world, particularly in Asia, makeup is much more layered. Applying skincare, primer, foundation and setting products is part of the beauty ritual itself.
How do you personally approach makeup application?
I often describe makeup as a mille-feuille — beautiful, delicate layers rather than one heavy application. Each thin layer contributes something different, whether it's hydration, longevity or finish.&nbsp;
Start with your skincare, then your primer, followed by foundation, setting powder if needed and perhaps a setting spray. When every product is applied in thin, balanced layers, the result is much more refined and significantly longer-lasting.
You've worked backstage under some of the toughest conditions imaginable — from fashion weeks to outdoor shows in extreme heat. How does that influence product development?
I'm fortunate because fashion shows and photo shoots become our testing grounds. Sometimes we're preparing models eight hours before a show. They go through rehearsals, fittings, backstage photography, social media content, lunch breaks and countless touch-ups before they even walk the runway. Products have to survive all of that. Those real-life conditions constantly challenge our laboratories to develop formulas that genuinely perform.
At the same time, Dior has become a truly global beauty house. We have marketing, research and education teams around the world who continuously send feedback to Paris. That constant exchange of feedback is one of our greatest strengths.
Has travelling influenced the way you develop makeup?
More than anything else. When people ask me what inspires me, they often expect me to talk about fashion or colour. Of course those things inspire me, but travelling is probably the greatest source of inspiration because every culture has a completely different idea of beauty.
Working backstage in India taught me so much about colour correction and the incredible nuances of deeper skin tones. Japan taught me something entirely different. I remember recreating a runway show there that had originally been presented in Paris. Maria Grazia Chiuri wanted an almost invisible, no-makeup makeup look. On French models, it looked effortless.
When we recreated the show in Japan using predominantly Asian models, I realised that the same approach simply didn't work. The models needed a touch more warmth and colour to look naturally fresh. It reminded me that a nude makeup look isn't universal. A natural look for an Asian woman is different from a natural look for a French woman.
You can only learn those things by travelling, listening and respecting the people you're working with. Those experiences eventually shape the products we create.

Tell us about the new Dior Forever On Set Powder.
One feature I'm particularly proud of is that it's completely talc-free. Traditional powders can sometimes become chalky, especially in humid weather. We wanted to create something that feels incredibly refined and almost melts into the complexion instead of sitting on top of it.
Rather than looking like an extra layer of makeup, it fuses seamlessly with whatever foundation or skincare you're already wearing, enhancing the skin's natural texture while adding a soft blurring effect.The formula is also infused with hyaluronic acid, which contributes to that second-skin feeling. It's exceptionally lightweight and comfortable to wear.
For Asia, we've also developed an exclusive luminous version that's only available in this region. It offers the same lightweight texture but adds a subtle veil of radiance instead of a matte finish. It's very elegant — never glittery or obvious — and simply gives the complexion an extra boost of luminosity.
Dior Beauty has created products that have become both bestsellers and viral sensations. Do you think about virality when developing new products?
Not at all. There's a big difference between a bestseller and a viral product. Many of Dior's products have been successful for years without ever becoming social media sensations. They become staples because they deliver consistent quality and people trust them. When something does go viral, of course I'm proud because it means we've connected with a younger audience and remained culturally relevant. But what interests me even more is understanding why it happened. Those moments tell us a great deal about changing beauty habits, youth culture and how people use makeup today.
Take Lip Glow Oil, for example. It was already a strong-selling product from the moment we launched it. Then, suddenly, a younger generation discovered it and transformed it into a global phenomenon. They created the trend — not us. Our responsibility isn't to chase trends. It's to create products with genuine quality. If people embrace them and make them part of their lives, that's what turns them into icons.
What would you like people to take away from the new Dior Forever collection?
Don't overcomplicate makeup. Get to know your skin and build your routine gradually. Most importantly, don't feel pressured by trends. Makeup should work with you, not the other way around. The products are there to support your routine, adapt to your lifestyle and help you become the best version of yourself.
