1955 saw the debut of the Ingenieur, a striking design that combined IWC Schaffhausen's passion for engineering with rugged sportiness and an undeniably technical appeal. Several decades and iterations later, the legacy of the Ingenieur continues – this time, with a timepiece dedicated to a reigning Formula One champion.
Hot on the heels of Nico Rosberg's crowning as the 2016 F1 world champion, IWC has unveiled a special edition Ingenieur Chronograph model, the “Tribute to Nico Rosberg”. Designed by Rosberg himself in collaboration with IWC Creative Director Christian Knoop, the in-house chronograph features an 18-carat red gold case, a slate-coloured dial, grey calfskin straps, and a transparent sapphire-glass back, which bears the recognisable “Nico" lettering from his helmet.
Only 23 pieces of the Ingenieur Chronograph “Tribute to Nico Rosberg” are available worldwide – to mark the total number of Grand Prix wins Rosberg has garnered in his F1 career.
