TRIVENI: A Cultural Concert Not to Be Missed
Grammy award winner Zakir Hussain will be performing alongside maestros Kala Ramnath and Jayanthi Kumaresh for one night only this August.
It’s a shame we don’t get to enjoy more cultural music in Singapore: A place where we celebrate our multiculturalism and diversity. This August, world-acclaimed tabla maestro Zakir Hussain will perform a one-night-only concert with two other celebrated traditional Indian musicians. The concert, TRIVENI, features Hussain with Kala Ramnath on violin and Jayanthi Kumaresh on veena, after its successful tour in the US.
TRIVENI derives its name from a mythical site in India at which the three sacred rivers converge, and lends itself to the three trailblazing musicians who come together to break barriers. Organised by the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society (SIFAS), the concert will take place on 14 August, on the eve of India’s 75th year of independence. With the support of the High Commission of India, Singapore as a part of India@75 Celebrations, this celebration of music reaffirms the cultural ties between Singapore and India.
The trio's music brings together influences from Hindustani (North Indian) and Carnatic (South Indian) tunes in a harmonious display of musical finesse, internationally recognised for their multi-genre works involving western classical music, jazz and blues, among other genres.
“We are sure, our home-grown budding talents will be most inspired and nurtured with such a high-class performance,” says Mr K V Rao, President of SIFAS. “With the universal appeal of these three legendary artistes, our multicultural audiences in Singapore will also be richly rewarded!”
Music is a universal language as it transcends physical and language barriers, ready to be savoured by those willing to listen. So if you’ve been looking to expand your repertoire of music, be sure to attend this exclusive cultural performance is coming soon to Singapore.
TRIVENI, performed by Zakir Hussain, Kala Ramnath and Jayanthi Kumaresh, will be staged at the Esplanade Concert Hall on 14th August 2022 at 7:30pm. Tickets are priced at $100, $75 and $50 and are available through SISTIC.
