An All-White Affair at Le Dîner en Blanc Singapore 2018
On 12 May, Le Dîner en Blanc made its pit stop on our shores for yet another one-of-a-kind al fresco soiree — this time, at the F1 Pit Turn 23. 1,200 guests gathered at this year's secret location to celebrate the Paris-launched, worldwide tradition of the all-white dinner affair, which is now in its 30th year running. Among the guests were local actors and hosts like Jade Seah, Constance Lau and Sarah Benjamin, as well as radio personalities including Class95's Simon Heng and 987FM's Sonia Chew.
Located right by the Marina Bay Reservoir at the foot of the city's iconic Singapore Flyer, the F1 Pit Turn 23 offered dinner guests a breathtaking view of the Singapore’s Central Business District skyline.
The menu for the evening was equally as spectacular. Le Diner en Blanc invited leading local mod-Asian chefs Shen Tan, Dennis Chong of CreatureS and home chef Tinoq Goh to present their unique takes on Asian cuisine, which made up the epicurean feast at the event. To make things even more special, the dinner menu was exclusively designed for the evening by One Michelin star restaurant Saint Pierre's celebrity chef, Emmanuel Stroobant. Guests had the pleasure of enjoying the feast in the company of their friends — only after dinner commenced with the traditional waving of white linen serviettes.
Of course, no good dinner party is complete without drinks. Guests were offered an everflowing supply of champagne from Perrier-Jouët, on top of being treated to a fine selection of red, white and rosé wines, courtesy of Vinomofo. Talk about outdoor dining at its finest.
A gorgeous location? Check. Exquisite culinary offerings? Check. All that's left is quality entertainment, and that was taken care of by One Time Trio, comprised of internationally acclaimed artist Randolf Arriola, percussionist Ridz Razali of Wicked Aura and didgeridoo player Stew Bamrah, who greeted guests with their lush soundscape as they arrived at the dinner venue.
As the evening progressed, guests were also treated to dazzling performances of live string music by Vetta Quartet, as well as the captivating choreography of the roving ribbon dancers from Silent Star. Guests even got to put on their dancing shoes when DJ Adry hit the deck — that is, after dinner was concluded with a thousand glowing sparklers. The evening's festivities were made all the more exciting with the help of the event's hosts: Brandmama founder Jasmine Tuan, Wanderwine founder Alexis Lhoyer and CEO of Chab Events, Guillaume Chabrières.
With all things considered, it's safe to say that the sixth edition of Le Dîner en Blanc Singapore was a success — one that ended with unforgettable memories and newfound friendships.
