Each year, some of the finest watch brands come out with commemorative timepieces celebrating the Chinese zodiac, just in time for the Lunar New Year. This time, Harry Winston celebrates the Year of the Ox with a dramatic gold timepiece to add to its Premier collection.
The year of the Ox symbolises diligence and dependability in Chinese culture, which are qualities certainly reflected in the luxury watchmaker’s precision timekeeping.
The rose gold timepiece comes as part of the brand’s Premier collection that will light up your wrists with its captivating and eye-catching design. The Premier Chinese New Year Ox Automatic 35mm watch portrays the ox in all its glory, with a dramatic silhouette of an ox with its hoof kicked up mid-air over a pillar box-red mother-of-pearl dial, in red and gold for good fortune and prosperity. An undulating pattern curves around the lower half of the case, drawing inspiration from mountainous landscapes found in traditional Chinese paintings.
Drawn in 18-karat rose gold, the gems highlight its muscular silhouette, with its characteristic curved horn, strong muzzle and chest. The bezel and lugs are set with the brilliant-cut white diamonds and emerald-cut diamond at 12 o’clock; a direct reference to the late Mr. Winston’s favourite diamond cut.
Powered by Harry Winston’s automatic HW2014 calibre, it offers a robust power reserve of 68 hours, fitted with a flat silicon balance spring for long-lasting precision and reliability.
This glamourous wristwatch also comes highly limited edition, with only eight pieces sold worldwide - considered the luckiest of all numbers in Chinese tradition.
