Get to Know Elena Lokk, the Designer Creating Modern Statement Jewellery
Today, Elena Lokk designs exclusive pieces of jewellery for her eponymous jewellery brand that is slowly winning over the world. Among the admirers of her creations are famous names like Ornella Muti and former Italian Vogue editor-in-chief, Franca Sozzani. With Elena Lokk’s rising success, it may be a surprise that the label started out from merely a hobby. Elena’s story, which she shares with us below, is an inspiring example of what a person can achieve is their soul is in it.
FROM A HOBBY TO A PRESTIGIOUS BRAND
Having returned from her travels a few years ago, Elena felt inspired and new ideas took shape in her mind to create a designer piece of jewellery. She started with a sketch, before moving onto the selection of natural raw materials and Swarovski crystals and there it was – a white tender necklace before the eyes of the future designer. After her first piece of jewellery, there came second and third; she started to implement new ideas, which she first created as jewellery gifts for her friends, relatives and companions. After that, Elena made up her mind: she wanted this creative hobby to become her professional work.
“It was a great joy to see the smiles on their faces when I presented them gifts made with my own hands and with all my heart,” shares Elena on her creative endeavours. “And then I thought why not to connect my life with this hobby in order to realize the best of myself in a new creative field. And today I continue enthusiastically, step by step, moving forward the chosen path, trying to make each collection of accessories superior to the previous one... This is an amazing process that fills me, my life, my environment.”
INSPIRATIONS: FAMILY, TRAVELLING AND MORE
At the beginning of her creative career, Elena was mostly inspired by travelling around the world and the energy of the new places she visited. Today, nothing has changed. Emotions from the beauties of the universe that she has observed are still the main source of new ideas for her brand. Most of all, the jewellery designer loves to contemplate the beauty of the blue ocean waters in the Maldivian islands and admire the beautiful landscapes.
Elena is clearly inspired by nature: in her works, she uses blue topaz reminiscent of the ocean, green tourmaline that resembles the freshness of palm leaves, and Swarovski crystals which are similar to pure white sand. Elena also likes to visit art exhibitions and museums. Nevertheless, she recognizes that her main inspiration is her daughter Alice, who is often in her mother’s workshop and participates in the process of creating jewellery. The designer is very careful about family values and says a lot about the importance of love in our lives.
“A big happy family is truly a great value in the life of every person. What could be more precious than understanding and support from close and dear people? Problems miraculously dissipate at the very thought of loving people who are accepting you for who you are. Along with communicating with their loved ones, only a person’s conversation with God can be compared - such dialogues fill one with energy, give new forces, provide confidence and influence internal harmony and soul balance”.
THE UNIQUE APPEAL OF ELENA LOKK
The success of Elena Lokk’s brand rests on three points: the jewellery pieces are entirely handmade; they are made using natural stones and Swarovski crystals; and each piece is unique, available in only one sample so that its wearer feels special.
In her designs, Elena employs a range of feminine materials: river pearls, mountain crystals, corals, agates, aventurines and turquoise, as well as delicate velvet and silk ribbons. She also constantly participates in all the processes of promoting her business. She controls the creation of each design: the stage of readiness, compliance with the sketch, and then trying it on herself.
“It is very important for me to participate in the whole process personally!” she shares. “This is my business, my idea and a large part of my life. No one will feel my business as I can feel it. And for anyone it will not be as important and valuable as for me.”
Currently, Elena Lokk is well known in Monaco, Russia, as well as Ukraine. The brand’s collections are also presented in Italy and Switzerland. In due time, the brand plans to enter the world market, conquer new heights and win even more hearts of true admirers of perfect beauty.
