In Bulgari's updated B.zero1 Rock collection, all roads lead to Rome

The collection is an urbane blend of bold, avant-garde design with the mysticism and romance of ancient Rome.

When you are a brand that's been around for over a hundred years, you learn a thing or two about staying relevant. Italian luxury house Bulgari knows this well: Their latest jewellery collection, the B.zero1 Rock, is proof. This year the house has added six new pieces to the collection, each building on the audacious spirit the line was founded on.

The B.zero1 collection lives up to its esoteric name. First launched in 1999 and later reimagined by Zaha Hadid herself, the B.zero1's fluid yet architectural silhouette is almost instantly recognisable; it's a shape that recalls Rome's grand Colosseum itself. But instead of falling into sentiment, Bulgari has given the collection an added tinge of edginess — even rebellion — by fusing it with an almost industrial-like tube motif, an ethos that continues into this year's latest additions.

The standout piece from this year's line is undoubtedly the 18 kt white gold necklace. With a total of 7.20 cts of diamonds, it is undoubtedly the most precious B.zero1 Rock piece to date — but it's not just the bling factor that has us enamoured. The necklace's stunning chain motif, almost industrial in nature, is made of individual links that echo the iconic ring's distinctive edges.

On the 18 kt yellow gold version of the necklace, the core of the pendant comes laden not with diamonds, but with edgy studs wrapped around the central band — a look that's both glamorous and daring at the same time.

And, to showcase just how striking the silhouette of the B.zero1 is, Bulgari also offers a rose gold version unadorned by diamonds. Instead, it bears a bold streak of black ceramic on its rims, one that lends a wonderfully graphic contrast to the pendant's studded core.

Bulgari's newest brand ambassadors embody every bit of that irreverence, daring and sophistication. For Magnifica — the house's yearlong campaign — they've appointed Blackpink's Lisa and ascendant Hollywood star Zendaya as its representatives. They are, as the brand says, "indomitable talents" in their respective fields, and above all, unapologetic about who they are — just as Bulgari is.
