A Menagerie of Power with Indomptables de Cartier
Cartier’s latest collection presents 10 styles of jewellery inspired by the zebra, giraffe, tiger and crocodile.
In Cartier’s latest collection, Indomptables de Cartier, four animals from the maison’s fauna are playfully intertwined in a dynamic expression of savoir-faire and precision. The scales of a crocodile are transferred onto a zebra, which lends its signature stripes to the brand’s emblematic panther. Each animal’s distinctive coat sees itself imprinted onto the next, through a creative play on tête-à-tête.
The 10-piece collection comprises both white gold paved with diamonds and yellow gold bracelets, watches and necklaces. Each style features Cartier’s careful approach to diamond setting and shagreen diamonds that gleam in the eyes of each animal.
Tête-à-tête has long been a theme closely associated with Cartier’s designs. The brand’s two-headed bracelets, popular since the 1930s, evoke a modern air in the statement styles from this collection. Taking on the maison’s naturalist hallmark with a graphic twist, the form of the bracelets draws focus and delivers a powerful dimension of individualist character.
At the heart of this collection is the feeling of being in private conversation with another. The jewellery takes on a personal feel through the novel hybrids that converse with the wearer in a strong and intimate way. The Indomptables de Cartier collection is a daring foray into the expression of power in the modern age.
