Louis Vuitton Celebrates Its 200th Birthday With a Bevy of Special Events

The visionary spirit of Louis Vuitton lives on.

Louis Vuitton announced a global celebration in honour of founder Louis Vuitton’s 200th birthday on the 4th of August with a series of dynamic initiatives involving 200 creatives from all over the world. The Louis 200 event aims to evoke the life and legacy of Louis’ journey before he became the pioneering fashion icon of today.

Highlights of Louis 200 includes a video game with embedded NFTs; store windows showcasing the iconic trunk reimagined; a fictionalised novel about Louis’ life and intentions by French writer Caroline Bongrand; as well as a documentary – Looking for Louis, retracing the story of young Louis’s journey to becoming the visionary he is today that will become available on Apple TV later on.

“Louis: The Game” features the Louis Vuitton mascot, Vivienne, travelling great distances to reach a final festive birthday destination. Developed by the same people behind Riot Games (League of Legends), digital artist Beeple is known for his artwork Everydays: the First 5000 Days, and the House’s artistic directors. The game will be available through the App Store and Google Play for Android systems.

Meanwhile, the brand also premieres an entire store network of specially-created windows by 200 artists of varying backgrounds and their individual interpretation of Louis Vuitton. Noteworthy names include Stephen Sprouse and Alex Israel, Hypebeast, Lego, South Korean Boy Band BTS, Paralympic swimmer Theo Curin and architects Peter Marino and Sou Fujimoto.
