UNIQLO Appoints Clare Waight Keller as Creative Director
After a successful collaboration with the brand last year, Clare Waight Keller is now taking the reins of UNIQLO from fall/winter 2024.
Clare Waight Keller, the celebrated creative force behind Chloé and later Givenchy, is embarking on a new chapter as she takes the reins as creative director at UNIQLO. Reflecting on her two-year collaboration with the brand, Waight Keller expressed her admiration: “Working with UNIQLO over these past two years, I have been hugely impressed by their innovation and ability to create exceptional products. Working with the team, I became deeply immersed in the brand and the future they are creating.”
Tadashi Yanai, the founder of UNIQLO, shares in the excitement of his latest appointment. “Along with her exceptional originality and wide-ranging experience, I have been impressed by her excellent sense of balance, which never forgets the perspective of the consumer,” he said. “I believe that with her, we will be able to evolve LifeWear, the ultimate everyday wear, into something even richer and create clothes that will make our customers even happier.”
In addition to spearheading the continuation of Uniqlo : C—a sub-label launched in 2023 that redefines wardrobe essentials with a laid-back, distinctly British flair—Waight Keller will also helm UNIQLO’s core women’s and men’s collections, beginning with the Fall/Winter 2024 season.
