You would be hard-pressed to find a garment that has enjoyed a more major glow up in the past decade than the sneaker. Hitherto circumscribed to the domain of exercise, over the past few years sneakers have made the leap from fitness and function to fashion and the front row. Scroll through any style-related Instagram feed, and you are sure to spot multiple cameos by the once-humble shoe. And it’s easy to see why. Trainers are endlessly versatile, and will take you seamlessly from work to the weekend and even weddings. What’s more, in an era when gender expressions are becoming increasingly complex, sneakers feel like an alluringly neutral alternative as compared to say, high heels. Convinced? Here is a swish pair you should keep in mind for your next splurge – the CitySole from Coach.
Inspired by the hustle and bustle of living in New York City, the shoe fuses contemporary chic with performance innovation, the ideal choice for trendsetters on the go who do not want to sacrifice comfort for style or vice versa. Created in two variations for men and women, the Court and the Runner, the designs showcase Coach’s new CitySole technology, which helps to minimise body impact through progressive shock absorption, and generates a more effortless stride through heel acceleration and optimised sole geometry.
The Court resembles a tennis shoe, and features a cushioned core, a stabilising shell, localised pods around the heel area, and dynamic control to support the foot during the rolling phase of motion. The Runner leans towards the more athletic end of the spectrum, with a responsive cushioned core, a high-performance and abrasion-resistant EVA sole, and clear TPU on the forefoot and heel with performance grooves for enhanced control.
The CitySole collection comes in over 30 different colourways and material combinations like suede and leather, suede and nylon, suede and knitted mesh, or leather and calf hair. The women’s range includes neutral tones of beige and white, vivid hues of purple, yellow, and green, animal prints, and the signature Coach monogram in shades of brown with pale pink accents. For men there are versions in muted grey, black, and white, splashed with bright red, orange, and blue. The Coach name is stamped on all versions on the pull tab, the side of the sole, or the upper.
The CitySole collection will be available from February 2020 onwards at the Coach boutiques in Paragon, Wisma Atria, Takashimaya, Raffles City, Marina Bay Sands, VivoCity, and Jewel Changi Airport
