Prada's Fall/Winter 2021 Campaign is all about Touch

Feels like Prada explores the slow, gradual recollection of physical touch as the world begins to reopen post-pandemic.

Most of our lives last year were bereft of intimacy. People were starved of physical touch, and there was a new desire for connection and feeling — something Prada knows as well. Their latest Fall/Winter 2021 campaign focuses on that element of intertwined physicality.

Cover one of your senses and the other four get heightened: with your eyes shut, you’ll feel the way the Nappa Leather Gloves mold around your fingers. Not only is it luxuriously soft, but the gloves are also made for your convenience — its mini pouch made for storing essentials to look your best for when you strut out your doors post-lockdown.

While appearance is vital, Prada’s Fall/Winter campaign empathises one's longing to be held. Cradling the Cleo Brushed Shoulder bag succinctly mimics the comfort of being hugged — the sleek curved lines remind us of the allure of holding onto someone else’s waist and the security of knowing everything you need is within reach.

Photographed by David Sims, the campaign tells an abstract story: In it, buildings are shown wrapped in an assemblage of tactile patterns the same way people yearn to be wrapped in someone else’s arms. It's a projection for our yearning for connection, a total sensory overload that's both unsettling and familiar.
