From Onitsuka Tiger creative director, Andrea Pompilio, comes the brand's new Autumn/Winter 2019 collection, themed "Downtown Rave". Celebrating the independent, youthful spirit with bold colour blocks and logo play- this season's collection is inspired by the European club scene in the 90s, with minimalist, oversized looks. We see the return of chunky sneakers, decked out in signature Onitsuka Tiger stripes, along with colour-blocked quilted outer jackets- perfect for that windy snow day.
Available in Singapore from August 2019, the AW19 collection is divided into 5 different themes, with one theme being released each month over a period of 5 months.
- THE ATHLEISURE MIX
- THE PRINTED NOISE
- THE FLUORESCENT CLUBBING SNOWBOARDER
- THE RAW URBAN UNIFORM
- THE BERLIN TRILOGY
In line with the theme of the collection, the sneakers from this season bear the reinterpreted a design inspired by Buffalo shoes and the 90s retro-taste.
Forget boring-looking plimsolls, Onitsuka Tiger's AW19 collection also features chunky slip-on shoes, equipped with two belts and a draw-cord, also boasting the same thick soles as the Chunky Runner.
Cue the colours, and make way for the Knit Trainer, Big Logo Trainer and the Rebilac Runner- all of which bear the signature Onitsuka Tiger stripes. For those looking for comfort and style, the Knit Trainer is made of a soft knit upper body, with a rubber 'cage' formed by the stripes, not forgetting the chunky heel for extra cushioning. Playfully modernized from archival design, the Rebilac Runner boasts a uniquely shaped thick slit midsole for support and comfort, making for a classic chunky sneaker that will go with any outfit.
And perhaps the most unique of all is the Pokkuri Sneaker PF, a woman's sneaker inspired by the Japanese geta sandal, made prominent by the grooves on its thick soles. A simple traditional touch on a modern sneaker, made suitable for everyday wear.
The AW19 collection is available at all Onitsuka Tiger stores and online at www.onitsukatiger.com/sg
