It's a Christmas miracle: Rei Kawakubo, the revered, reclusive designer behind Commes des Garçons, has decided to team up with not one but nine other brands to bring us a surprise capsule collection for the holidays. For the special collaboration, Kawakubo remixed iconic pieces from the following brands: Gucci, Burberry, Maison Margiela, Jean Paul Gaultier, Stussy, Simone Rocha, Craig Green, Marine Serre and Walter Van Beirendonck.
The result was the Friends and Comme des Garçons Happy Holidays collection, which consists of surprising, one-of-a-kind pieces like Burberry's classic check scarf, transformed into a tie, or a Gucci-fied CDG Kraft paper vinyl tote bag. There's even an updated version of Maison Margiela’s AIDS Awareness T-Shirt in the mix.
See them all in the gallery below, but don't waste too much time; the limited-edition 10-piece collection will be launching tomorrow (6 December) at both the Comme des Garcons store at Hilton Hotel Singapore and Dover Street Market Singapore.
The pieces are sure to sell out as most CDG collectibles do, but you can always comfort yourself at DSMS' Open House taking place the whole day tomorrow. The event will feature new releases from Gucci, Moncler, Nike x Ambush, and many more. Later in the evening, you can also expect DJ sets from Syndicate DJs, Kiat and Intriguant, as well as food and drinks from the nearby COMO Cuisine.
