The American fashion icon will be the first-ever person to receive the award, which celebrates the ways he has engaged with the music world through fashion.

MTV announced today that Marc Jacobs will receive the first-ever&nbsp;Fashion Trailblazer Award, highlighting a partnership between the eponymous channel-turned-brand and the Council&nbsp;of Fashion Designers of America. In a statement released by the CFDA, the council wrote that &quot;the worlds of Marc Jacobs and music are inextricably linked.&quot;

&quot;From runway&nbsp;shows featuring Lady Gaga or a marching band playing Nirvana&rsquo;s&nbsp;Smells Like Teen Spirit&nbsp;to front rows with Cardi B and Nicki Minaj and ad campaigns with Missy Elliott and Cher,&quot; the council&nbsp;wrote, &quot;Jacobs often taps into the cultural moment through the lens of music.&quot;

This won&#39;t be the first time Jacobs and MTV have intertwined. Jacobs incorporated MTV&#39;s logo into his Resort 2017 collection, telling&nbsp;Vogue,&nbsp;&quot;MTV always had the coolest graphics. It was very spot-on for what MTV was saying and who they were saying it to. It really spoke to me, and I think that generation of people at that time. I&rsquo;ve maintained them in my memory bank, and they&rsquo;ve never gone away. They&rsquo;re iconic.&quot;

Jacobs and his design&nbsp;team will also be collaborating with MTV on a multimedia red carpet activation for the big night. Make sure to tune in and check it out!

The VMAs,&nbsp;hosted by&nbsp;Sebastian Maniscalco,&nbsp;will air live on MTV from&nbsp;the Prudential Center in Newark&nbsp;on August 26th.&nbsp;
