Disney+’s 'Moving' Makes a Clean Sweep at the Busan International Film Festival

Held at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) Theatre in the Busan Cinema Centre, the presentation of the 2023 Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards took place on October 9. At the awards ceremony, Moving from Disney+ took home six accolades, including the awards for Best Creative and Best Writer, honouring Kang Full, the original writer of the series who also worked on the TV adaptation. And while we may not know for certain what Season 2 of Moving is going to look like yet, we at least know that Season 1 is finally gaining the recognition it deserves.

The action-fuelled drama follows the lives of children who possess supernatural powers and their parents, desperate to keep the secrets of their painful past hidden. Veteran actor, Ryu Seung-Ryong was awarded Best Lead Actor for his role as Jang Ju-won, the father of Jang Hui-soo, played by Go Youn-jung. His portrayal of Ju-won was the talk of everyone who watched the show, as his incredible acting allowed audiences to connect and immerse themselves in his character's tragic yet inspiring back story. Like father like daughter, albeit onscreen, Go Youn-jung was also presented with the Best Newcomer Actress award and Lee Jung-ha received the Best Newcomer Actor award for his part as the bouyant Kim Bong-seok. The web series also earned the award for Best Visual Effects, for its finesse in supernatural and gore effects that melded beautifully with their jaw-dropping, large scale action scenes.

At the awards show, Lim Ji-yeon was accorded Best Supporting Actress for her part as Park Yeon-jin in Netflix’s The Glory starring Song Hye-kyo. Netflix’s survival reality programme Physical: 100 also brought home the title of Best Reality & Variety, after capturing the attention of viewers worldwide early this year, with Korea’s top athletic contestants battling it out through a series of gruelling physical challenges.
