Vivien Ong Comes Into Bloom In Shanghai Tang’s Chic Fall/Winter 2020 Collection
This year has brought us into uncharted waters, and it is in times like these that we need strengthen and resilience to guide us through tough times. This philosophy and positive energy is one that Shanghai Tang's FW20 collection carries forth. Coming in key motifs bamboo and chrysamthemum, plants prominent in Chinese culture and lore know for its resilience in withstanding harsh weather conditions, the collection imbues positive energy into its trove of sumptuous fabrics, including velvet, quilted fabrics, felted wool blends and sequined embroidery.
Jacquard patterns of bamboo are featured in comfortable silk fabric, giving just the right amount of stretch to work the fit-and-flalre skater dress silouhette, for a flirty and refined look. Traditiional silouhettes get a chic update on the label's bestselling qipaos, with side slits that come with chrysanthemum embroidered silk satin tape trimming and made in wrinkle-free poly fabric.
The label, founded in 1994 in Hong Kong is inspired by the glamour and glory of the Shanghai Bund in the 1930s, injecting a touch of modernity into storied Chinese traditions.
