Versace Fall/Winter 2017-2018

Despite rumours of her retirement, Donatella Versace remains very much at the top of her game

Several models at Versace’s Fall 2017 show took to the runway in clothes and headgear emblazoned with ‘equality’, ‘unity’ and other terms of empowerment: Donatella Versace’s nod to the strength of women in the face of adversity. While some may question a fashion designer addressing political setbacks like the outcome of last year’s U.S. election, Versace means it when she professes her love of bold and uncompromising nasty women. Who else could build authentic and lasting relationships with women in such different stages of life as Jane Fonda and Lady Gaga?

The sinuous mesh inserts and subtle ombré effect of look 7 would certainly be up the former’s alley, while the latter might find a tour-wardrobe hero in the bold shoulders and sparkle of look 50.
