August is only a couple of days away, and that can only mean one thing for Singaporeans (and Singapore residents) near and far — National Day. No doubt, the Republic will mark its 55th birthday this year amidst highly unusual circumstances, but, as is evident in L’Officiel Singapore’s August 2020 issue, there is still much to appreciate and many ways to celebrate this tiny island called home.

“In times of crisis such as these, it is all the more important for our local community to rally around one another and to lift each other up. Which is why we’re paying homage to our little red dot with this month’s print edition, giving prominence to local fashion, local creatives, and local expertise, alongside a bevy of Pre-Fall and Fall/Winter 2020’s most memorable looks,” says Ian Lee, Editor-in-Chief of L’Officiel Singapore.

“And who better to front our latest issue than Kim Lim? The entrepreneur and champion of social causes dons Tiffany & Co.’s T1 collection on our cover, and reflects on rising above adversity, empowering those in need, and the importance of self-care.”

In the spirit of honouring homegrown talent as well as the #supportlocal movement, among August’s pages can be found: the up-and-coming +65 creatives to know, the freshest finds from designers doing the nation proud, and the food artisans offering scrumptious Made-in-Singapore wares. In addition to the chicest red and white togs to fly the flag high on the 9th (or any other day), and a glimpse at domestically-based artist Mojoko’s inspiration and oeuvre.

That’s just the start, too. Gazing beyond confines, L’Officiel Singapore takes readers into the great outdoors on a stylish trip across the globe (since most are grounded at present) in MODE, from Breaux Bridge in Louisiana to the blooming fields of the United Kingdom and back again to Hay Dairies in the island’s Northwest, where striking Pre-Fall and Fall/Winter 2020 designs serve as the ideal complement to nature’s beauty.

Also expect the accessories to keep an eye on in the coming months from Gucci, Fendi, Longchamp and the like in STYLE, a compendium of ways to turn heads in BEUATY, and the ultra-desirable releases from Van Cleef & Arpels, Richard Mille, Louis Vuitton, and Dior in BIJOUX, along with plenty to stir up interest in LIVING.
