To celebrate its official partnership with the 2024 edition of Art Basel Paris, Miu Miu is bringing an exciting new project to life—Tales & Tellers, a tribute to the diverse and compelling voices of women. From October 16 to 20, this special initiative will unfold as part of the public program. And starting today, October 3, you can secure your spot by registering on the Miu Miu website to experience exclusive guided tours and intimate conversations surrounding this unique artistic endeavor.
Miu Miu has long been captivated by the stories of women, consistently weaving their experiences and perspectives into the very fabric of its collections. Since 2011, the brand has extended this fascination into its Miu Miu Women’s Tales series, an inspiring platform for female filmmakers to explore the rich and multifaceted dimensions of femininity. Through collaborations with visionaries such as Hailey Gates, Dakota Fanning, Chloë Sevigny, Agnès Varda, Alice Rohrwacher, Miranda July, Ava DuVernay, and Zoe Cassavetes, Miu Miu has brought to life 27 distinct cinematic worlds.
At the heart of each of these films lies a set of timeless, provocative questions: How do women see themselves? How do they relate to one another? Is appearance not just an aesthetic concern but also a political and intellectual one? How closely tied are sensuality and pleasure to these questions? The Women's Tales series has challenged filmmakers to take a critical look at the notions of femininity and vanity in the 21st century. In these short films, Miu Miu’s collections move beyond mere fashion—they become living, breathing characters, interwoven with the narratives.
In 2021, Miu Miu expanded this concept even further, transforming its runway shows into dynamic spaces for artistic dialogue. Through installations, animated images, and thought-provoking collaborations, the brand continued to delve into the complexities of what it means to be a woman today. Miu Miu’s partnership with Art Basel Paris is a natural evolution, underscoring the brand’s deep commitment to exploring women’s voices and experiences through art.
As part of the Tales & Tellers exhibition, Miu Miu is returning to its familiar setting at the Palais d'Iena, where its fashion shows are traditionally held. This time, the space will host screenings of all the commissioned short films, alongside a series of conversations with the directors and artists who have collaborated with Miu Miu over the years. But these discussions won’t just focus on their work—they’ll dive deeper into their personal journeys and the moments that inspired them to pursue their creative paths.
Best of all, the exhibition is free and open to the public. To join in this celebration of women’s stories and creativity, simply register online at miumiu.com.
