For Spring/Summer 2026, we focus on your star accessory, Le Smart. What was your approach when tackling its design and what were the things you considered in the creation process?&nbsp;
Le Smart is the latest expression of our aesthetic vision, combining modern sophistication with a timeless, minimalist design. With this model, the intention was to create a true object of desire, crafted in the finest quality leather, showcasing our leather-working savoir-faire. Beautifully balanced in its proportions, it is designed for everyday use and made to stand the test of time. More than just an accessory, Le Smart is a true style statement, carrying Maison’s signature codes, starting with its supple leather. Its bamboo clasp, inspired by the iconic Le Roseau, adds a final distinctive touch.
Despite being designed for the modern Parisian woman, Le Smart’s minimalist design lends to its unisex appeal. Was this an intentional decision or was it just a circumstance of timeless design?&nbsp;&nbsp;
Le Smart was designed with the modern Parisian woman in mind, yet its appeal naturally extends beyond gender, thanks to its effortlessly cool, laid-back sophistication. Its clean lines and generous proportions create a contemporary silhouette that speaks to a new generation seeking easy elegance, expressed through a modern fit. How did the name Le Smart come about? Tell us the story behind that.&nbsp;
The name reflects the bag’s essence, with its thoughtfully designed shape conceived for contemporary lifestyles where functionality and elegance naturally converge. Every detail has been carefully considered to make the bag intuitive and adaptable to any situation, whether traveling or working. With its well-organized interior and generous capacity, it offers multiple carrying options, seamlessly adapting to a life in motion.
In short, a bag that combines elegance and practicality, hence its name, Le Smart.
Leather is a key emphasis when it comes to Le Smart. What makes Le Smart’s leather so special and tell us about how the Unfold in-house programme comes into play?&nbsp;
You’re right, leather lies at the heart of the Le Smart collection. We chose ultra-premium leather to express inner Longchamp’s craftsmanship and savoir-faire, highlighting its natural richness and beauty. Carefully selected and treated through a specific tanning process, it preserves its supple aspect while ensuring lasting protection. Over time, the bag develops a natural patina, giving each piece its own unique character.
Our Unfold program first introduced in ready-to-wear and now extended to leather goods reinforces transparency across the entire value chain. You can easily scan the QR code on each label to trace the origin, materials, and manufacturing stages of each product, offering a clearer view of the quality aspect behind each creation and further enhancing its value.

Longchamp’s CSR and Transformation Director, Adrien Cassegrain said, “Making less but better means designing objects that can be repaired, passed on and that become more beautiful over time.” In an era of hyper consumerism that throws away broken things for something new and shiny, what made Longchamp focus on items like Le Smart, that are built to last and can be passed down?
