All About Choo: Cara Delevingne Dazzles in Jimmy Choo's Holiday Campaign
You star in the Jimmy Choo Holiday campaign. Which were your favourite shoes from the shoot?
Definitely the black Maine heeled-boots with the multi-coloured gems. I think they really represent New York and the different coloured lights – that flashy outer layer. With New York being the city that never sleeps, they’re the perfect shoes to wear and they’re also extremely comfortable.
How has your style evolved since you started in the industry?
As I’ve grown up, my style has changed. I guess I wear less statement T-shirts and baseball caps. It’s more about a beret and leather jacket [now]. I think it has just matured in a way, but I still like to be comfortable in what I wear.
How many pairs of shoes do you own?
A lot. I think shoes are really important. I do like to get a pair of shoes and wear them in and out until they’re broken. I will repair them, and wear them until the end!
Your dear friend, Adwoa Aboah, has just had a great modelling season after moving over from casting. Did you give her any advice before she made that leap?
I am so proud of Adowa. Not only has she had an incredible season for modelling, she’s also doing so much to help girls and allow them to have a voice about mental illness and addiction. Just getting young girls talking is, for me, incredibly inspiring. I think we have come from the same place of wanting to help teenagers because we both struggled in different ways at that point in our lives. I don’t think I ever sat her down and gave her advice because she is extremely capable, but there have been times when we have both exchanged some pointers.
You’ve done three films this year and have another two lined up for 2018. How’s work now compared to when you were modelling full time?
I feel less busy only because I’m finally doing all the different things I want to do. When I had just one job, it kind of felt quite monotonous – not in a bad way. But it was just a lot more travelling and stress on me. Being able to create more and express emotions are the most important things for me, and it doesn’t feel like I’m that busy at all now because I’m doing what I love.
Do you think you’ve found success?
I think success is more about happiness. I don’t think that it’s [about having] the best job, the most money or the most friends. I think success comes from being happy deep down about who you are and what you are doing.
Your idea of the perfect Christmas is having…
Friends, family, food, feasting, fiesta and obviously lots of presents!
What would your pizza order for a party be like?
It depends on what time of day it is. Sometimes I like an egg. [I like] olives, bacon, tomato and cheese. There is something they do here in New York called a vodka pizza, which is quite interesting. I’ve never tried it, but it’s one for my list.
Your choice cocktail is…
Sex on the Beach. I don’t know what’s in it, I just like the name. It sounds exotic. It really depends on what kind of mood I’m in. I might go for something very fruity if I feel like it, or [I might have] something sour. I like something sparkly, maybe with some elderflower. That’s what I’m really in to. And [with] lots of ice.
Any tips for the perfect party selfie?
Just have fun and don’t care too much. Have as many people in it as possible. And use a fun filter.
