Marc Jacobs and iconic actress Charlotte Rampling are the new faces of Givenchy’s Spring Summer 2020 campaign. Shot by Craig McDean and directed by the French house’s Artistic Director Clare Waight Keller, the duo come together to make up the “iconic Givenchy couple,” modelling pieces from Givenchy’s spring/summer 2020 collection.

However, this modelling is done so in an unusual, tongue-in-cheek manner – Rampling gives Jacobs an acting lesson, and hilarious antics ensue, both switching between menswear and womenswear, and finally ending with the arthouse icon slapping the New York designer. Not that Jacobs minded all that much. “I said it was okay for Charlotte to really slap me. I mean... She is CHARLOTTE RAMPLING,” he said in an Instagram caption.

Similarly, Waight Keller took to Instagram to gush over the duo. “How can I describe my feelings about seeing these extraordinary legendary figures in the Givenchy campaign, both of whom I admire so very much. Firstly for their undoubted originality and talent in fashion and film, amazing passion in everything they do, a fantastic sense of humour and intelligence, […] they are true icons, there is not much to say other than I am honoured and thrilled they have become part of my journey at this beautiful Maison,” she said.

This campaign also marks the first collaboration between designers Jacobs and Waight Keller.
