Succeeding creative legends such as Sol LeWitt, James Rosenquist, Andrée Putman, Yayoi Kusama, Alex Israel is the latest artist to bring his talents to the House of Louis Vuitton.
This new, playful eight-piece textile collection from Israel follows on from his recent collaborative work for the brand on the Artycapucines bag and packaging for Les Colognes Perfumes, and now features a range of scarves, shawls and blankets.
Inspired by the artist's iconic Wave paintings, the House's elegant silk square takes on a bright, dreamy pastel hue across four colour combinations and three sizes, put together using a unique quilting technique. The scarf is padded to recreate the puffy texture of Israel's paintings, while the reverse side features Louis Vuitton's signature monogram pattern.
The jumbo scarf also doubles up as a comfy blanket, showing off Alex Israel's refreshing approach to sizing, in which the classic square scarf can be reimagined and worn in a variety of modern ways.
The collection’s Sky Backdrop Monogram shawls are made of a silk and cashmere blend, and are artfully printed with the artist's Sky Backdrop paintings in two beautiful colour options. The final piece in the collection is the Desperado bandeau, inspired by Israel's 2015 bronze sculpture of the same name, featuring a desert scene, cacti and cars against the Sky Backdrop, overprinted with the Louis Vuitton Monogram.
The Louis Vuitton X Alex Israel Textile Collection is available at both the Louis Vuitton Marina Bay Sands Island Maison and Ngee Ann City boutiques.
