Marc Jacobs Fall 2018

Closing NYFW, Marc Jacobs presented oversized coats, broad silhouettes, and sharp hats that covered the models' faces. The long, narrow runway at Park Avenue Armory was accompanied by eerie gothic music.

Memorable piece — The iridescent taffeta trench coat that was glowing red when the spotlight hit.

Potential trend — Statement oversized coats that screamed with loud colors dominated the Armory runway.

Best accessory — Everything from oversized scarves, sharp wide hats, to small chain purses that hang around the neck.

Collection inspiration — Jacobs took to '80s fashion illustrations with broad shoulders, huge flourishes, and bold colors. Covered by the wide hats and bowed scarves, the anonymity of models made them look like illustrations that came to life for the show.

Location — Unlike his Spring 2018 show, where he used the whole space at Park Avenue Armory, this season was intimate as models walked down the narrow old wood floors to gothic instrumental music.
