Launched between the two ready-to-wear seasons, the Resort or Cruise collections usually take place before the summer of the Northern hemisphere. These shows are also a great opportunity to whisk the fashion crowd away from the traditional runway setting to a more picturesque venue across the globe.

So, where are the brands headed for the Cruise 2019 season this May?

Some brands will be returning to their roots — as is the case with Dior, which which will have its show at the Domaine de Chantilly — while others will venture into lands that have not been occupied since antiquity, such as the ancient French cemetery where Gucci is presenting its new collection.

Here are the confirmed dates and locations for the upcoming Cruise 2019 shows:

Gucci in Arles, France

After New York, London, Milan and Florence, Gucci's creative director Alessandro Michele will present his resort collection for the brand in the French city of Arles. The Roman necropolis of Alycamps, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will serve as a backdrop full of mysticism and symbols for the aesthetics of the fashion show, which will take place on May 30.

Louis Vuitton in Cote d'Azur, France

After Japan and Rio de Janeiro, Louis Vuitton has chosen the beautiful backdrop of Saint-Paul-de-Vence on the Côte d'Azur, France, for their cruise collection. The show takes place at the Maeght Foundation, a contemporary art museum, on May 28.

Dior in Chantilly, France

Dior will showcase its 2019 cruise show in the historic stables of Chantilly Castle, in the suburbs of Paris, on May 25. Built in the 18th century on the orders of Prince Louis-Heri of Bourbon, the historic venue boasts the largest stable in the world and is seen as a symbol of French prestige — apt for the French luxury couture house.

Prada in New York

Prada will shake up the 2019 Resort season with its show on May 4. While the exact location chosen has not yet been revealed, we do know the show will be held in New York City, making the Italian fashion brand the only major one to show outside of France. Last year, Prada chose the Osservatorio exhibition space in the historic setting of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II right at its city of origin, Milan.

Chanel at the Grand Palais, France

Last February, Chanel announced that it will make a major contribution to the renovation of the Grand Palais. The space, which regularly hosts its Fashion Week shows, will also be where the French brand unveils its Cruise 2019 collection on May 3.
