Lili Reinhart: "I'm A Proud Bisexual Woman"
Lili Reinhart is opening up to fans about a part of her life she has never shared before. Just a few days ago, the Riverdale star took to Instagram Stories to announce that she identifies as a "proud bisexual woman". She joins the list of celebrities such as Halsey, Kristen Stewart, and Bella Thorne, who have been vocal about their fluid approach to sexuality and labels.
Reinhart avidly uses social media as a channel of communication to her large following (24 million followers on Instagram and counting). She has used her platform to speak up on mental health awareness and her personal struggle with body image. After her recent breakup with Riverdale co-star Cole Sprouse, her partner of nearly three years, Reinhart has flown under the radar. However, amidst the fight against police brutality and social injustice, the 23-year-old has used her voice to support the protests in response to the death of George Floyd.
Earlier this week, Reinhart shared a flyer for a protest that supports the LGBTQ+ for Black Lives Matter community. “Although I’ve never publicly announced it, I am a proud bisexual woman. And I will be joining this protest," she wrote along with the image.
Reinhart also took to Twitter to share her thoughts on racial discrimination in the USA and the need for police reform. "I want to say that I am ashamed of the racism that exists in this country. We are taught to look at our police officers as helpful and friendly when we learn about 'leaders' in elementary school. Our 'leaders' have failed us," she tweeted on June 1.
"I can't begin to imagine the horror of worrying that you won't be protected by your 'leaders' because of the colour of your skin. I know that white privilege exists and I could never fully understand what it's like to be oppressed because of my race," she added. "I don't have the right words, but I stand by you. #BlackLivesMatter."
