Singapore's new Baroque academy is bringing the rich compositions of music's most extravagant era to Chijmes next January.

As 2019 approaches, why not make it your New Year's resolution to get more acquainted with classical music? Sing'Baroque, a new academy of Baroque music in Singapore, wants you to start big with the ornate musical period that emerged in Europe between the 17th and 18th centuries.

If you've never truly experienced the rich sounds of famous Baroque composers like Antonio Vivaldi or Henry Purcell, you can dip your toes into it at Sing'Baroque's upcoming debut concert, "The Seasons of Love". Taking place at the Chijmes on 6 January 2019, the concert will be performed by the academy's Ensemble-in-Residence, Red Dot Baroque, and led by Artistic Director Alan Choo.

Expect a complete journey through the Baroque era, featuring iconic pieces such as Vivaldi's Four Seasons or Purcell's Music for a While as well as the works of lesser-known composers like Lambert and Strozzi. Even devoted Baroque fans will discover something new at the concert thanks to Red Dot Baroque's modern interpretations of the era's beloved classics.

After the concert, guests can mingle at a cocktail party to celebrate the official launch of Sing'Baroque, which has plans to host gloablly-acclaimed European ensembles and world premieres in Singapore in the near future.
