How To Ace The "No Makeup" Makeup Look According To A Professional
Sure, celebrities have that special gene that allows them to look amazing without an ounce of makeup on, but most of us aren't as fortunate when it comes to the "I woke up like this" look. Fortunately, there is a solution for that. No, not plastic surgery, but the "no makeup" makeup look, which elevates your natural beauty without going over the top, so you too can glow like a newborn cherub. Makeup artist Julija Biveiniene tells us how:
Prepare your face
Because "no makeup" makeup uses a bare minimum of cosmetics, it is very important to have a complexion that is smooth and bright. Regular cleansing and moisturising is essential to that end, as is exfoliating every week to remove the layers of dead cells. Wait at least a few minutes after moisturising before applying any makeup.
Use a light foundation
For the natural look, opt for a lighter foundation, preferably using water-based remedies, because they cover over imperfections without creating the dreaded mask effect.
If your complexion is already smooth (lucky you!), you can choose a BB or CC cream instead, and use concealer to hide dark circles and acne spots.
Try to avoid using bronzer, but if you can't go without, be sure to choose the right shade so you look naturally tanned rather than discoloured.
Blush will give your face a youthful touch — spread lightly over your cheekbones, the tip of your nose, your chin, and the cupid's bow over your lips.
Don't overdo the eyebrows
Your eyebrows are key, because they give your face expressiveness. Don't over do it, but comb your eyebrows and apply a colourless gel to achieve the right look. If your eyebrows are too light, then you can use a coloured gel, but choose a tone just a few shades darker than your natural one.
Go minimal on the eyes
Eye makeup isn't absolutely necessary here, but you can apply some mascara to your lashes to bring out the colour in your eyes, and a light shadow to your lids for even more radiance.
Highlight the outer corners of your eyes with a darker beige eyeshadow, and then apply a light-coloured, shimmery eyeshadow to the inner corner to make your eyes appear bigger.
Apply lip balm
To create the most natural look, do not paint your lips in bright colours. Instead, go for a lip balm with some shine so your pout looks plump.
