5 Beauty Trends from London Fashion Week
AW22 delivered more than just impressive ensembles, but avant-garde makeup looks as well. From jewelled facial pieces right down to classic bold liners, here are 5 of our favourite beauty trends from London Fashion Week.
London Fashion Week brought an array of avant-garde beauty trends to the runway. We’re talking loud facial gems reminiscent of the girls at ‘Euphoria’, bleached brows courtesy of alternative culture, and more. This season, put your fears aside and try something daring for a change.
Facial Gems
An easy-to-recreate look that’s sure to make a statement at any party. Designed by Gucci Beauty’s global makeup artist Thomas de Kluyver, models graced the runway with pearls and gemstones delicately decorated around their eyes at the Simone Rocha show. To try your hand at the look, purchase some ready-to-wear facial gems and get to sticking.
Bleached Brows
Richard Quinn’s models did not come to play with their out-there bleached brows. Coupled with slicked-back hair and barely-there makeup, their platinum brows stood out in the best way. If you want to take it one step further, we recommend bleaching your hair the same shade of blonde and rocking a grunge makeup look to really tie the look together.
Black Bold Liner
Just like Paris Fashion Week, the popularity of the ever-so-classic black and bold eyeliner stayed trendy at London’s. There, Eudon Choi’s models channelled their inner Måneskin and Julia Fox with their fat, sharp-winged liners and stunning glosses to complete their look. For best results, we advise combining both black eyeshadow and liquid eyeliner to create a defined, yet buffed look.
Colourful Mascara
Yes, colour is in and it’s just as we predicted. To put her own spin on the colourful mascara trend, makeup artist Fara Homidi opted for a pastel blue underlash at the Supriya Lele show. It’s a look that shouldn’t work, but somehow just does; making the models’ eyes pop that much more in a slightly different way.
Primary Colours
It’s good to go back to basics. But of course, the definition of "basic" means something completely different in the fashion world. The Dion Lee show saw models wearing blocky eyeshadow in the form of standard primary colours – red and blue; classic colours to complement their ensembles. The trick to achieving this look? Not being afraid to apply as much colour to your lids as possible with freehand strokes.
