At Valentino, Alessandro Michele presents Interferenze, a collection where memory, discipline and creative freedom meet on the body.

Rome was the natural place to tell this story. With its layered history and grand Baroque palaces, the city reflects a constant dialogue between order and movement. Inside the monumental halls of Palazzo Barberini, Michele unveiled Valentino&rsquo;s Fall/Winter 2026 collection. Rather than searching for purity or perfect harmony, the collection embraces friction, contrast and unexpected encounters.
The setting is far from incidental. The palace itself embodies the tension Michele explores. Its structured architecture stands alongside the sweeping illusionistic ceiling painted by Pietro da Cortona. In much the same way, the collection thrives on contrasts and the coexistence of opposing ideas.
As Michele explains, meaning does not come from one force dominating another. Instead, it emerges from the space between them. On the runway, this idea takes shape through garments that seem to exist in a delicate balance. Precisely tailored menswear pieces meet soft, fluid draping. Strong-shouldered blazers appear alongside light, flowing tops. Long, restrained gowns share the stage with intricately embroidered mini dresses.
This tension has become a defining element of Michele&rsquo;s work. Fashion, in his hands, behaves like theatre. The silhouettes feel sculptural and dramatic, echoing the legacy of Valentino Garavani while also pushing the house towards new visual territory.

Colour heightens these contrasts. Valentino red appears in sharp bursts against soft mint greens, powdery lilacs and deep black. Sandy neutrals calm the palette before sheer lace or exaggerated volumes interrupt the balance. Some looks feel almost timeless, as if elements of couture history are blending with a distinctly modern sensibility.
Accessories add another layer of drama. Oversized necklaces, visor-like glasses, furs and sculptural jewellery transform the body into something architectural. Rather than simple finishing touches, they extend the silhouette in the same way arches or columns extend a building.

In this sense, Interferenze is more than a title. It is Michele&rsquo;s creative method. He approaches Valentino&rsquo;s heritage not as something fixed and untouchable, but as living material shaped by memory, references and new ideas.
Rome itself becomes part of the narrative. The city is not just a backdrop but a character, embodying a place where past and present coexist without cancelling each other out. With Interferenze, Alessandro Michele shows that Valentino can remain deeply rooted in its history while continuing to move confidently towards unexpected new horizons.
