The New Prada Galleria is the Flower of the Flock

An enduring classic, the Prada Galleria gets a soft update this season with floral embellishments

The Prada Galleria is such a timeless bag, it’s easy to forget that the top handle is 17 years old. Back in 2007, Prada released the structured, functional tote — it is named after the Italian house’s flagship store, which had its doors opened by the late Mario Prada. The flagship was revealed not only in the iconic location of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, but also in the brand’s founding year of 1913. Since then, the countless iterations of the Galleria bag have served only to emphasise its status as an enduring classic.

This year, the icon has again been given a subtle makeover — but this time, through and through, and on both the inside and the outside. In plush calfskin and with a nappa lining, the new Galleria Soft Grain is light and supple. Another modern, luxurious touch: the bag’s metal hardware is gold-plated. Perhaps counterpointing this new softness, in true Prada fashion, are the embellishments that are found in this collection: micro-studs or three-dimensional floral decorations now dress up this ageless style.
