The Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2020 Collection Campaign Is A Retro, Campy Trip

The campaign transforms Sophie Turner, Billie Lourd, Emma Roberts, and more into heroes of literature and cinema

Fashion is a novel, or so says Louis Vuitton in the new Pre-Fall 2020 collection campaign, which stars the French house’s muses, including Sophie Turner, Deepika Padukone, Billie Lourd, Emma Roberts and more, reimagined as protagonists in the timeless camp of pulp sci-fi and horror novels and films.

The collection, designed by Nicolas Ghesquière, artistic director of Louis Vuitton, features a “wearable library,” where each outfit narrates its own story, under a base of horror and sci-fi book and film covers.

“These characters from our wardrobe set the scene for our days, our moods, our lives. This meeting of periods, stylistic movements and anachronistic combinations brings to life a rich cast of costumes,” states Louis Vuitton in its press release. 

Sophie Turner stars in what appears to be a retro horror book cover, titled The Devil’s Mansion, in a tailored white suit, camel coat, ski boots and cane, while Emma Roberts looks striking in a high necked red midi dress and boots in The Dragon Slayer, surrounded by an illustrated cartoon Dragon, no less. 

The collection features a bold yet classic wardrobe befitting of the house’s DNA, with instances of sportswear with refined tailoring. Taking the cultural references even further, some of the collection’s t-shirts are printed with the original cover from William Peter Blatty’s 1971 cult science-fiction novel The Exorcist.
