The notion of seeing red usually carries negative connotations, but when it comes to Chinese New Year, then the redder, the better. So if you’re looking to reap a little (or a lot) more luck in 2020, look no further than Versace. The Italian house is ushering in the Year of the Rat with a special capsule of accessories from its Virtus line, all hued in auspicious shades of red.

First introduced for Fall/Winter 2019, the Virtus series is named after the ancient Roman deity of bravery and military strength. Imbued with the same qualities of courage and character, the Virtus heralds a new age of powerful femininity, expressed through boldness of design. The signature motif of the collection takes shape as a Barocco-style letter V (for Versace and Virtus), enriched by intricate curlicues of acanthus leaves.

Two Virtus styles are refreshed in vibrant red for the festivities – a chain wallet and a top-handle shoulder bag. The latter is also available in classic black. Both are crafted from supple leather in a quilted diamond finish, and feature the ornate V logo in a combination of gold-tone hardware and clear crystal. The small top-handle comes with a detachable shoulder strap for dual functionality, while the boxy wallet can be suspended from a delicate jewellery-inspired chain.

The Chinese New Year collection is exclusively available in the Asia-Pacific region, and in Singapore at the Versace boutiques in Marina Bay Sands and Paragon.
