Embroidering Archival Roger Vivier with Dior

Three nature embroidery patterns from the Roger Vivier archive breathe new life into Dior’s bags and shoes.

The very beginning of this collaboration was initiated in 1953. Roger Vivier’s workspace on the sixth floor of Dior’s ancestral home at 30 Avenue Montaigne had the shoemaker crafting designs, especially for the French luxury house. Envisaged by Maria Grazia Chiuri, three historic embroidery patterns have been reimagined to live on an array of shoes and bags for the brand.

The Dior 62-22 pumps feature an adjustable neoprene strap that is functional and comfortable and comes in three embroidery patterns fabricated with pearls – namely the mimosa flower, structural coral and the turquoise mineral. The architectural lines on the Dior D-Joy bag and Mini Lady Dior bags showcase the intricate work inspired by the Vivier archives.

Embroidery creeps up the classy knee-high Dior Illusion Evening Sandals and sportier D-motion shoes, highlighting the black fishnet that holds the pearls in place. These reimagined iterations underscore the apt pairing of Vivier’s vision of embroideries with signature Dior elegance and innovation. Chiuri’s revisit of Vivier’s embroidery prowess sees the merging of two creatives in a restrained clash of aesthetics fit for the modern woman.
