The Sacai designer is the first to participate in the label's new project

<p style="text-align:justify">Whe Jean-Paul Gaultier announced that his recent <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/fashion/celebrating-jean-paul-gaultier-s-final-haute-couture-show-with-dita-von-teese">Spring/Summer 2020 Haute Couture</a> show would be <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/fashion/jean-paul-gaultier-announces-retirement-after-50-years-in-fashion">his last</a>, he also promised that it was not the last we would see of fashion&#39;s <em>enfant terrible</em>. And yesterday morning, the designer finally revealed what he had in mind. &quot;Each season I will invite a designer to interpret the codes of the House,&quot; he announced on Instagram.&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">The first to step up to the plate? Chitose Abe of Sacai.&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">&quot;I have a long-held admiration for Jean-Paul&#39;s unique vision of subversive femininity and his originality, both of which I&#39;ve strived toward in my work since the beginning,&quot; said Abe in a statement. &quot;It&#39;s a true honour to be given the opportunity to be custodian of his house as the first designer of this project.&quot;</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">The pairing&nbsp;comes as somewhat of a surprise, seeing as Abe tends towards a more low-key approach, while Gaultier is anything but, with his high-octane, theatrical&nbsp;collections that have made him a <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/fashion/90s-gaultier-print">firm celebrity favourite</a>.&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">Still, we can&#39;t wait to see what the duo have in store for us, although we&#39;ll have to wait until Paris Couture Week in July for that.&nbsp;</p>
