Designed by Roger Vivier for Christian Dior in the '60s, the Dior pumps remain a classic of the house. Vivier’s innovative designs were always known for evoking a sense of tension and outlandishness. The Dior 62-22 pump is exclusively named after 1962, the year when Dior and Vivier’s collaboration blossomed with the creation of the signature pumps.

Blending ingenuity and tradition, Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri pays homage to the ornate and intricate footwear of Vivier’s archives, melding riffs on the historical silhouettes synonymous with Dior. In the FW22/23 collection, Chiuri embraces the hybridity of traditional embroideries and futuristic technologies, transforming the houses’ heritage through the exploration of the past, present and future.

Opening up the doors to the future of Dior, the original elegant and sophisticated pump has been updated with Chiuri’s futuristic and contemporary lens, thanks to innovative techniques developed in the D-Air lab* laboratories. Reappropriating the fancy and elaborate embroideries, mimosa flowers are meticulously stitched to the footwear, giving off the illusion of blossoms on a stem that extends to the heel. Intricate pearls with a coral motif extend in a beaded fringe on the toe, brimming with grandeur. Exploring the boundless possibilities of embroidery, fine turquoise stones bloom on a transparent fishnet base, revealing a poetic movement that unveils Parisian savoir-faire.

Exceptional craftsmanship is elevated with the technical fabric strap that wraps around the ankle that can be released with the push of the button. It can also be adjusted accordingly by turning the button to fasten the strap. The ultralight neoprene and fluorescent yellow stitching is a nod to the world of motorcycling and places the Dior 62-22 shoes on a timeline that seeks to redefine heritage through the perspective of tomorrow.
