Will Caitlyn Jenner Replace Kim Cattrall in the New Sex & The City?
Ready for the return of Sex And The City? News of the hit series roboot was received with much fanfare by fans, but it looks like not all the original stars will be making a return. Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis have announced they will be reprising their roles of Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes and Charlotte York Goldenblatt in the forthcoming And Just Like That. But the other member of the fashionable quartet, and one of the most loved by the public, Kim Cattrall as Samantha Jones, was completely missed out.
This sparked rumours of a rivalry between actresses Kim Cattrall (Samantha) and Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw). Cattrall was last seen as Samantha in the 2010 film Sex and the City 2, and made frequent mention that she did not want to take part in another series or movie. In October 2017, she appeared on Piers Morgan's show and said she's "never been friends" with her Sex and the City costars. She said: "we've been colleagues and, in some way, it's a very healthy place to be."
In addition, another new question remains: who would replace this iconic character?
Both the series and the films received harsh criticism for their lack of diversity, considering that all the main characters were white women, and that we hardly found anyone on screen who srayed far from this pattern. Now, for the great return of the beloved series from the 90s, there is speculation that this issue will be resolved.
A source on The Mail on Sunday revealed that two new characters would enter the plot, a black woman and an Asian woman. "Samantha will not be returning, but we are introducing two new characters, strong and courageous women, who will help introduce the program to a new generation of viewers and more accurately reflect the world in which we live”.
Other rumors claim that a famous reality show name will join the cast. Who might that person be? Caitlyn Jenner! According to The Mirror, the former athlete and model is one of the most highly rated people up for consideration. A source at the newspaper reveals: "Caitlyn has been a reference in the media in one way or another for more than 50 years. She is really perfect for the role."
Who would you like to join the production?
