Today, the wait is over. Just a few hours ago, the beloved member of South Korea's most iconic K-pop septet dropped the official music video to his lead single, 'Set Me Free pt.2' and it certainly did not disappoint.
The video, which has racked over 4.5 million views in just 4 hours since its premiere, shows Jimin delivering a charismatic and passionate performance as he sings about the freedom to be unapologetically himself and moving forward in life. "I won't hide anymore, even if it hurts," he sings as he mesmerises us with his fluid yet powerful dance moves, courtesy of his contemporary dance and ballet background. The track, with its use of striking horns and epic choir chants, certainly makes a grand splash for the star's solo career.
This is all, of course, building up to Jimin's debut solo album that is set to drop March 24, 2023. Titled 'Face', the album is said to compise of 5 original songs—all of which co-written by Jimin himself. When asked about the "Pt.2" his lead single's title, the artist confirmed in an interview with Consequence that it was in reference to a track by his fellow member, Suga's second Agust D's mixtape, D-2. That track, which covered similar issues of feeling trapped in the monotony of life, was similarly titled 'Interlude: Set Me Free'.
