Gwen Stefani is Finally Releasing Her Own Makeup Line

Earlier in the year, we pondered the question of why so many celebrities have decided to start their own beauty brands; with stars among the likes of Kylie Jenner, Selena Gomez, and even Harry Styles coming up with their own beauty lines to add to the already big and diverse selection of products in the market. And coming March 3rd, beauty queen and “og” Gwen Stefani is finally joining the ranks of celebrity beauty entrepreneurs with GXVE Beauty.

To long-time Stefani fans (like this writer), the news comes as no surprise. Matter of fact, it has us wondering why the No Doubt singer didn’t do sooner. Besides her impressive career as the lead woman for ska-rock band, No Doubt, and later, pop solo artist, Stefani’s love and appreciation for the art of makeup has remained constant, if not grown over the years.

“I used to work at the mall in Anaheim (Stefani’s hometown),” shares the singer in an Instagram post. “They put me behind the counter without any training. It was one of the greatest times of my life because I got to do makeovers on people that just wanted to feel good.” Once Stefani found fame with No Doubt back in the late ‘90s, doing her own makeup became a staple before big shows and events, no matter how famous she got over the years. 

“Red lipstick was my obsession,” she continues, “and I remember the first time that I ever tried it. I saw the future. That was me for the next forever of my life.” And true enough, the singer is almost always accessorised with a red lip every time we see her. Seeing Gwen Stefani without red lipstick is almost as odd as seeing Zooey Deschanel without bangs.

Though this is the first collection of her own, Stefani is no stranger to creating designer beauty lines that work. In 2016, the star partnered with Urban Decay to create an exclusive collection of beauty products for beauty enthusiasts everywhere. The well-received line featured the limited edition Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette, 24/7 Glide-On Lipstick Shades and Lip Pencils, Gwen Stefani Blush Palette, and Gwen Stefani Brow Box.
