Elevate Your Beauty Routine with these Trusty Hacks
Contrary to popular belief, mastering your beauty routine can be simpler than you think. Thanks to the shared secrets of skincare, makeup, and hair gurus, we’ve put together a list of hacks that can help you step up your game in beauty.
Mastering the art of beauty – be it in skincare, makeup, or haircare – may seem intimidating at first, but simpler once you have a few handy tricks up your sleeve. Whether you’re currently struggling with naturally downturned lashes, sagging skin, or other beauty concerns, there’s a trusty industry hack to make life easier for you.
For a Snatched Face
If you’re looking to have a snatched face like Bella Hadid or Ariana Grande, use a facial roller or gua sha on your skin every morning and night.
The roller (available in jade, rose quartz, or any other stone) massages your skin and allows for lymphatic drainage that pushes fluids to your lymph nodes to be processed and filtered out from your body. Regular use of the roller on your skin will keep it looking de-puffed and glowy.
The gua sha, on the other hand, works as a scraping massage tool to improve blood circulation and reduce inflammation. It’s also what’s partially responsible for the snatched look you often see on celebrities nowadays. For better results, make sure you layer your skin with facial oil before rolling and scraping away so as to not tear your skin.
For Natural Lashes
When it comes to lashes, some prefer to have their natural lashes emphasised as their go-to no-makeup-makeup look over a more dramatic one. In order to do this, we’d recommend curling your lashes twice at separate parts of the hair.
First, start curling nearer towards your lash line to get the foundation of your lashes upwards. Next, curl towards the ends of your lashes to add a slightly lifted definition to them. Finally, layer them with about one to two coats of mascara and you’re good to go!
For Voluminous Lashes
Alternatively, you could go for voluminous lashes if you’re prepping for an event that you want to look bomb for. To truly make your lashes pop, try the vaseline trick. First, take a clean spoolie brush and coat it with vaseline. Next, layer that onto your already curled lashes and wait for it to set for a while before applying your coats of mascara.
Another hack we love is the saline one. If you have any dried up mascara and wish to give it more life until you can buy your next one, add some saline solution into the bottle to revive it and it should be as good as new.
Also, make sure to remove your mascara wand each time without oxidising it. To do this, swivel it out of the bottle instead of simply pulling it out.
For Naturally-Defined Eyes
Want to emphasise your eyes without making them too dramatic? Use your eyeshadow as eyeliner. Take a sharp-angled brush and dab it into a grey or brown powder before running it along the waterline of your eye. For more definition, draw it under your eyes or do a subtle cat eye flick to make it a tad more obvious.
For a more natural look like Kendall’s, we recommend drawing it towards the end of your eye and blending it in a bit.
For Everyday Eyeliner
If you don’t want something too heavy for an everyday eye, draw your eyeliner on towards the end of your eyes instead of starting at the inner corners. This allows for equal attention to your lashes and your liner if you’re opting for a more natural lash for your look. It’s also the perfect look for people with hooded eyes.
For Hooded and Monolid Eyes
This one is for those who have hooded or monolid eyes and have potentially struggled with the art of eyeliner for the longest time now. Our solution? The elongated eyeliner trick to complement your eye shape.
Made popular by TikTok beauty guru @jonisann, this hack allows you to create the perfect winged eyeliner. First, use your eyeliner to create downward line that extends past the end corners of your eye. Follow that by drawing your wing up and out instead of keeping it vertical as you’d so often see on western eyes. Finally, fill that in with your eyeliner and you’re done.
For Long Lasting Lipstick
Tired of how fast your lipstick fades throughout the day? Try the translucent powder hack. First, coat your lips with your lipstick of choice and let it dry. Next, set it in with a translucent powder. This should give your lips a soft and matte finish that will last for hours.
Of course, you could also opt for a lip stain for a longer-lasting pop of colour to your lips, but do make sure to invest in one that’s not as drying.
For Long Lasting Curls
If you’ve been styling your hair for a while now, you’d know that the curls you get with a heated curling iron will never last. Our hack? Heatless overnight curls.
Not only does it not do any damage to your hair the way a curling wand will, but heatless curls will also keep your hair looking voluminous all day. For best results, leave your heatless curlers in your dry hair for about six to nine hours overnight.
