A Look at 2022's Best Brow Trends
Here are five ways to get creative with your brows this season.
The standout beauty trend of 2022 so far? Brow art! And it's not just beauty gurus trying their hand at these creative looks on social media, it's your favourite celebrities as well. Stars among the likes of Doja Cat, Bella Hadid, and Kendall Jenner have been seen sporting thin, bleached, shaved, graphic, and dyed brows on Instagram and TikTok.
Below, learn how to recreate five abstract brow experimentations that have taken 2022 by storm thus far.
'90s Thin Brows
The '90s called, they want their brows back. Much like fashion, the resurgence of '90s and early '00s beauty trends has been very apparent as of late. In the earlier half of the year, Gwen Stefani-inspired thin brows were frequently seen featured on the Instagram and TikTok profiles of beauty gurus and celebrities alike. To recreate this trend without thinning out your brows, simply stick down your brows with glue and cover them up with concealer. Next, draw your lines as narrow as you want to create the perfect '90s brow.
Shaved Brows
The futuristic look is everything at the moment; one way to achieve this is by shaving your brows off completely. As seen on Bella Hadid at the Marc Jacobs show earlier in June, the lack of brow hair gave the model an almost otherworldly vibe, introducing a certain edge to the bold looks showcased on the runway. Of course, we do recommend being as careful as you can when shaving off your brows. Make sure you use a clean razor that's meant for the face and the right creams to prep the skin beforehand.
Bleached Brows
Bleached brows are, by far, the most popular beauty trend this year. And by many, we mean they've been spotted on names like Kendall Jenner, Katy Perry, Bella Hadid, Maisie Williams, Kim Kardashian, Julia Fox, Lady Gaga, Halsey, and more. To get your eyebrow hair as light as theirs, use special facial hair bleach to lift the pigments of the strands and be careful to not leave it lingering on your skin for too long. We also suggest applying moisturiser around the area before bleaching so that your skin is well-prepped and soothed for any potential burns you may get.
Graphic Brows
From graphic liner to graphic brows; get creative like Doja Cat by drawing cute illustrations on your brows in place of hair. If you're not keen on shaving your precious brow hair off, simply hide them with glue and concealer before drawing your designs on with eyeliner, graphic liners, or any other makeup tools you may need. To make sure they stay on throughout the day, apply a good base and have a setting spray at hand to prevent the look from rubbing off.
Dyed Brows
So you've bleached your brows, what now? Why, dyed brows, of course! If you're going avant-garde with your look, you might as well go all out. To make sure you don't dye your brow's surrounding area along with them, dye your lightened strands using an applicator or a q-tip. In addition to that, remove any access dye on your skin as you're waiting for the colour to process to prevent unwanted staining. We recommend trying out colours with eyeshadow before proceeding to commit to a colour.
